Christmas is coming….

So summer is barely leaving us and we’re already talking about Christmas.  In the business world though, this is an important time of the year. The last thing you want to do is miss out on what could potentially be one of the most profitable times of the year.  We’ve decided in our infinite kindness to offer you some helpful tips to make your campaign really stand out in this festive period.

This is a big time for using emailing to get your message across.  The EEC state that major online companies increased their emailing on average by 47%.  Judging by that, you will want to make sure your campaign is as effective as possible.  So here are some tips to keep you ahead of the competition…..

Make sure the timing is right

Research from previous years has found that the busiest period for online activity is between 5th -15th December.  Make sure your campaign takes into consideration these dates.

It’s also worth considering that people will be more likely to be taking more half days off.  So perhaps consider the time you send the message, early mornings may be your most effective time to deliver your message.

Keep Consistent

However tempting it may be to offer a plethora of different Christmas offers, it’s probably best to stick to one simple campaign over the whole period.  This way you can make sure you will push your message across and get through to your customers in the midst of mayhem that is there inbox.  Make sure you spend time making your offer simple and memorable.

Convenience

People may not have time off so they want convenience from their online purchasing.  Make it as easy as possible for them to get your product.  Maybe offer a reserve online and pick up from store offer or special mail deliveries options.  Perhaps even offering to wrap the product will tilt the scales in your direction.

Don’t overdo it

Okay, so as a provider of email marketing this probably isn’t the best tip (as we are probably going to miss out on money) but don’t overdo the campaign with masses of emails.  You DO want the recipients to get the message but you DON’T want to annoy them and end up flooding the recipients’ inbox.

Don’t just sell to them

You want to make your newsletter readable?  Don’t just give them the usual sales patter.  Start the newsletter with something like “Christmas tips” so that you can offer something that the recipients will find useful, then drop in an offer relating to your products and how it could be perfect for a certain someone.

Finally…..

It is customary to send your customers and clients the Christmas card.  Why not try something a little different this year and offer them an e-card?  Saves chopping down a ton of trees for something they’re going to throw in the bin the 1st January.  You can also automate personalisation of each e-card to save you valuable time so you can get back to work quicker (or go on the internet searching for Christmas presents).
